Ultimately humbled

We held our ground for most of the 2-hr. game, final score (i think??) was YM 7, YA 15.

I think we knew we were in for trouble when they arrived with team shirts and a chant:
maher-shalal-hash-baz
which is, apparently, the longest word in the Bible, meaning "quick to the booty, swift to plunder." Indeed.

Though we were lacking some key YM folk, we appreciate the amazing catches by Opie, Ryan (who took one for the team) Grant and Ron.

Bring it on!

Tomorrow will be a home fellowship ultimate frisbee battle! It's the young marrieds vs the young adults in the ultimate showdown: 2 pm is the time, MLK Jr. Park is the place...

Maybe this could turn into a home fellowship championship series?

Pictures will follow in the coming days.

ps, Micah and Rhonda, Matt and Heather, we wish you were here!!

Pow! Biff! Zap! up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right- b-a-select-start!

Come and play while the women are away! This Saturday while my wife and many of yours are at Cara's baby shower, let's have a video game day at the Miller house. The fun starts around 2:00pm and goes for as long as you can stay.

If you'd like to have a bit of fun that doesn't involve Mr Darcy, please RSVP with your pizza preference and what games/computers/systems/equipment you want to bring. I have two TVs, a PS2, two older computers, and a 4-port router for starters.

When I consider Your Heavens....

Cancelled due to cloudy weather. We will do this some time this summer though.
Tonight, weather permitting, we will be stargazing at Mary's Peak! We are meeting at 8pm at the Thriftway in Philomath. Bring VERY WARM clothing, maybe a thermos full of warm drink, blankets, and snacks. We will have to carry everything to the top (I'll see if I can talk Scott into including a guitar in that...). David is bringing 3 telescopes - hopefully we'll get to see Saturn and Jupiter!

Here are a handful of photos from last night! We had fun hanging out and playing games before the movies. I think most of us are wondering what they were thinking when they wrote Pirates 3... We're thankful everyone made it home safely by 4:30am-ish!

Drive-In

We're hoping to have a blast at the drive in this Friday Night:
Pirates 3 and Spiderman 3!!

Get back to Melody with the following ASAP:
-If you want to come
-What kind of car you have/how many people you think you can cram
-If you have a large boombox/radio we could use.

We would like to buy tickets early (they will sell out fast).

Here's what the plan is if we get tickets:
Meet at the Safeway in Dallas at 7:00 (gates open at 7:30, movie starts at 8:45), pile in and drive over. I'll get directions out later, or visit:
http://www.moviesindallas.com/motorvu/

What to bring:
-cash (a few bucks a person)
-snacks/drinks, unless you want to get them there
-lawnchairs (required by their rules)
-games to pass the time while we wait
-at least one car needs to have jumper cables, just in case :)
-WARM clothes, blankets, pillows
-don't bring pets

Hope to hear from you soon!

Camping, Climbing and Cooking

All Adventurers,

You are invited to come along for a Camping/Climbing trip
May 18-20

Here is the tentative plan:
Arrive at your own leisure Friday evening at our camp site (to be located
on
east side of pass). Next morning we will wake and eat together before
immediately heading out to one of the hidden rock climbing treasures of
Bend.
The second half of the day you can do whatever you want. There
are awesome
biking trails a mere 10 miles from the climbing site which we
can cart you to
the top of and you can coast all the way down. You can go
shooting. You can
even park yourself in a coffee shop the rest of the day if
you wish. Dinner at
camp site that evening. Wake and leave Sunday
morning at your own pace.

Meals:
Sat. Morning is provided
Lunch is on your own
Sat. Evening is provided (if desired)
Sun. Morning is provided (within a timeline)

These plans are tentative because the details depend greatly on how
many people
will be going. If you are interested, please respond with the
following
information:

1.Name(s)
2.Cell Number
3.Will you drive and how many extra people can you take.
4.Do you need a ride? Earliest time you can leave Friday.
5.Do you have any climbing experience? What?
6.Are you bringing anything for Sat. Afternoon (bike/gun)?

I (Matt) am leaving everyone with as much responsibility as possible as I
will only
host the campsite, select meals, and the rock wall. The rest is up
to you.
The only group fees that we will assess will be food, campsite (if
needed), and
a few helmet rentals. Cost is the driving factor and I will
keep it to a
minimum (oatmeal and spaghetti, anyone?)

I need all initial RSVPs by Friday at midnight.
I will send out a finalized plan by Monday at midnight.
I will need all confirmations by Wednesday at midnight.

Questions? Call Matt 905-2170

Patrick and Stephanie are also hosting Stone Soup again on Sunday the
20th. See earlier post for more info.

New location for this week's YM

This Monday, the 23rd, our home fellowship will be held at Patrick and Stephanie's house. Call Patrick for more info/directions: 503.508.3143. Same time, and still a potluck dinner.

Seed Party Photos

Here are some shots from the manly craft time. Thanks to Adam N. and Patrick for chopping wood lessons! Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the ladies working hard, but you'll see the fruits of our labor in the coming months. We had a great time despite the rainy weather.

Stone Soup

We have another opportunity to help make dinner for the people of Corvallis!

This month it will be on Sunday, April 29th.

We will be starting at 3:30 and should be done by 7:30, but feel
free to come at any time and stay for as long as you like. It is at
First Christian Church, downtown at 6th and Madison, right across
the street from central park. If you walk around to the back of the
church (the side facing away from the park) there's a set of double
doors that should be unlocked. Go in these doors, down the stairs
that are right in front of you, and the door to the kitchen will be on
your right, it should be open. Talk to Patrick and Stephanie for more
info.

There's also a BBQ/Sleepover Friday night. We'll have worship and games, with hiking the next morning. Dinner will start around 6:30-7. Bring your own meat, sleeping gear and other necessities.
